Former California insurance commissioner, John Garamendi, was recently elected to the WCC Online corporate Board of Directors.
Through its WorkComp.Com operating subsidiary, WCC Online Inc., is developing an Internet-based, proprietary transaction and information services network for agents, brokers, insurers and employers.
Garamendi, a private investment banker with headquarters in Los Angeles, most recently served as Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior. Prior to his tenure as insurance commissioner, he was a leader in the California State Legislature, where he was involved in many insurance matters.
Other WCC Online directors are Mario Rosati, senior partner at the technology law firm, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati of Palo Alto, Calif.; WCC Online director and CEO Robert J. Gore, former senior marketing executive at a large commercial lines insurer; and J. Rocco Chappie, Chief Technology Officer for WCC Online and veteran of three Web start-up enterprises.
WorkComp.Com launched information services on June 1 and expects to add new content throughout the third quarter. Transaction capabilities are expected to follow in the first quarter of 2001.
