Hawaii’s newest local insurance company has begun writing hurricane insurance and reinsurance. Zephyr Insurance Company will initially write only hurricane insurance for the residents of Hawaii and has already begun issuing policies. The privately held admitted insurance company was founded to protect Hawaii homeowners and residents from catastrophic loss due to a hurricane. HI Holdings is the sole owner of Zephyr Insurance Company. Chartered in Hawaii, Zephyr plans to write business only in Hawaii.
