Insurance Commissioner Harry Low announced the formation of a California Department of Insurance Producer Licensing Bureau toll-free hotline available for producers with licensing concerns. The new hotline is operational Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST/PDT, and the toll-free number is (800) 967-9331.
In addition, the current number for the Producer Licensing Bureau, (916) 322-3555, will remain active and available. The Producer Licensing Bureau is responsible for licensing agents and brokers who sell insurance in California. In 1999 alone, the Bureau received more than 530,000 telephone calls from its 200,000 agents, brokers and insurance companies.
In addition to the hotline, the Licensing Agents and Brokers web page provides visitors with an overview of the Producer Licensing Bureau, the licensing requirements, and an insurance licensing fee chart. A producer can also check his/her licensing status online. For more information, visit the CDI’s website, www.insurance.ca.gov.
