The San Diego chapter of Insuring The Children provided a $5,000 grant to support the work of Heart to Heart, a San Diego charitable organization working to serve families and children facing homelessness, poverty and abuse.
The money was raised last year during ITC events including a cocktail reception and a golf tournament, according to Mark Wells, ITC-San Diego chapter president.
“As our name implies, most of our support is derived from those in the insurance industry,” Wells said. “Contributions to Insuring The Children are a great way for insurance people to give back to their community by helping neglected and abused children build a better life.” ITC hopes to be able to expand its list of beneficiaries in 2001.
The San Diego chapter will host its Second Annual Charity Golf Classic at Torrey Pines Golf Course on July 30. ITC is a nonprofit corporation run by volunteers from the insurance industry. Its function is to raise awareness of child abuse and provide both financial and volunteer aid to child abuse social service agencies. Annual membership fee is $25, and anyone wishing to join the organization may contact Mark Wells, (619) 584-1100 x 114.
