General Re Corporation, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., announced that Patricia H. Roberts has been named president and CEO of General Star Management Company.
Kevin P. Brooks, General Star’s former chairman, president and CEO, has left the company. Last month, Roberts was promoted to executive vice president and COO of General Star. She joined General Re in 1977 and transferred to General Star in 1978.
During her 20+ years of service at General Star, Roberts has had a variety of underwriting and management positions. Joseph P. Brandon, executive vice president of General Re Corporation, was appointed chairman of General Star Management.
The General Star Companies underwrite excess, surplus and specialty p/c insurance on an admitted and non-admitted basis through appointed wholesale brokers. General Star is rated “A++” by A.M. Best and has an “AAA” financial strength rating from Standard & Poor’s.
