Wes Bannister has filed his name in the race to become the likely Republican nominee for the post of California Insurance Commissioner. Current Commissioner Harry Low has noted that he does not plan to run for the office in 2002.
Bannister said that he will start organizing a campaign and soliciting donations after Dec.1.
Bannister ran for the commissioner’s seat in 1990 on the Republican ticket, but lost to John Garamendi in the general election. He also ran for the post in 1994 and lost in the Republican primary to Chuck Quackenbush, who went on to win the post.
