California-based Extreme Networks Inc. announced that Scottsdale Insurance Company, a part of Nationwide® company, and a provider of excess and surplus (E&S) insurance, has implemented Extreme Networks’ Ethernet switching solutions to support its vision for the paperless office.
Scottsdale Insurance serves the high risk commercial, personal property, and casualty insurance sectors with specialized underwriting and a claims organization.
The solution chosen by Scottsdale Insurance features Extreme Networks’ BlackDiamond® core Ethernet switch along with the Summit® edge switching devices. Additionally, the new network provides the scalability for Scottsdale to market insurance policies through its national network serving hundreds of business partners, comprised of wholesale general agents and brokers.
Scottsdale’s new network serves two buildings on a 10-acre campus and fully supports the company’s key business applications-including high-volume database transactions, ERP, video, and digital image processing. Each building maintains its own data center supporting the company’s 1,000 employees.
In addition, Scottsdale’s nationwide organization of agents and partners participates in the network under certain restrictions. External agents have the ability to come into certain applications. The network also runs software connecting front office and back office functions.
