Seattle-based SAFECO Corporation announced the hiring of Kevin Carter as Leader of Corporate Diversity Initiatives.
“We view diversity as a vital business strategy that will make us more successful over time,” SAFECO President and CEO Mike McGavick said. “With America’s population becoming more diverse, companies that fail to reflect that diversity will miss a significant opportunity from both a business and employee perspective.”
Working in partnership with others on SAFECO’s diversity team, Carter will have responsibility for providing leadership and guidance in executing and developing corporate diversity strategy and managing and coordinating the variety of diversity efforts throughout SAFECO.
Carter, who will begin his position at SAFECO on Nov. 4, previously was vice president and director of the Western Region for DiversityInc.com, an international organization devoted to diversity-related education and communication.
