Gary Mendoza, Republican Nominee for Insurance Commissioner, recently captured the endorsements of the San Jose Mercury News and the Bakersfield Californian.
The News cited Mendoza’s strong pro-consumer record as California’s Corporations Commissioner and concluded that “Mendoza is the kind of candidate his party — and California — needs to combat the near total domination by Democrats. Mendoza is the better choice for California.”
According to the Californian, “Mendoza’s ability to work with the business community, while protecting consumers’ interests” as an essential ability as “California confronts a growing crisis in its insurance industry.”
Mendoza “earned a well-respected reputation for competency and consumer advocacy… [and his] style and past achievements hold the greatest promise for Californians to be served by a viable insurance industry offering fair rates and reasonable coverage,” the Californian stated.
“I am gratified by the endorsement of the Bakersfield Californian as well as the other editorial endorsements I have received to date including the Sacramento Bee, the Fresno Bee, the San Diego Union-Tribune, and the San Jose Mercury News,” commented Mendoza. “With each passing day I become more and more confident that I will win on November 5.”
