Robert F. Brooks is Lemac & Associates’s Newest Broker

January 22, 2004

William Newton, president of Lemac & Associates Inc. recently announced the new hire of Robert F. Brooks as assistant vice president. As a casualty specialist, Brooks will be responsible for developing new client relationships and assisting Lemac’s growth and development.

“We are fortunate to have the opportunity to bring Robert aboard,” Newton. “He is enthusiastic and has an impressive casualty background that will help us meet our long term goals.”

A native Californian, Brooks graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University, Long Beach. He moved from the banking industry to insurance in 1990 as a customer service representative at SAFECO, completed intensive training and eventually left SAFECO as a package underwriter. In 1997, he joined Chubb & Sons and was an underwriting officer in their technology unit underwriting package programs as well as life sciences and biotech risks.

In 2003 he joined Atlantic Mutual as an underwriting specialist handling all of the San Diego territory with lines of business for property, liability, umbrella liability, auto and workers’ compensation. The types of business he oversaw included technology, food, metal working, plastic manufacturing, printers and more. When the carrier was down graded, he decided to move his skills to the brokerage side – specifically Lemac’s operation. He explained “I like the company side, but I was always limited to that one company’s appetite and desire to write a certain line of business. As a broker, I will have the opportunity to use my diverse underwriting experience to make this a very successful transition for all. As Lemac’s newest casualty broker, I look forward to making a meaningful contribution and becoming an invaluable resource for Lemac’s customers.”
