Cal CLO previously told me that Garamendi et al would not approve any new WC carriers w/out at leat $50MM in C&S. What with Garamendi’s road show to drum up new carriers and all the publicity about changing the system, I wonder if the $50MM requirement still stands? Or whether they’ve changed their tune on that?
Garamendi is a crook just like the past Quack-in-bush. Hey he got himself a ranch in Hawaii. What is Garamendi going to end up with his own State like in State Fund.
I just wish the governor in my state had the backbone the “Terminator” appears to.
Like CA, our legislature (and our newly elected governor) is predominantly trial lawyers who have lined their pockets off the backs of injured workers and insurance companies so that we now have among the highest WC rates and lowest WC benefits.
Hope Arnold can make a difference in CA because we could all use an expample of effective WC Reform.
I can purchase medical insurance for all my employees cheeper that work/comp insurance. And you can use medical insurance even if you are not hurt.
Does that make sense ??
Arnold should be citing the special interests by name. Those of us in the industry certainly know who is the root cause of the cost-drivers, attorneys. Arnold should put them under the spotlight. The problem is far broader than just work comp. Plaintiff attys cost the public big bucks in auto, home, and commercial lines. Work comp is just the current focal point. The plaintiff attorneys need to be reigned back. Perhaps Gov. Arnold should cut atty fees back like Garamendi did to us (our commissions with the State Fund) in the name of cost reductions.
Give ’em hell Arnold!
