Torrance, Calif.-based Keenan announced that John Crooms has been named vice president of Sales for Northern California Group Schools Benefit Division, a newly created position.
Keenan is a full-service brokerage and consulting firm serving the western region of the U.S. Keenan offers a complete range of services to the healthcare industry and California public schools, including insurance, risk management, third-party claims administration, integrated disability, and consulting.
Sean Smith, CEO, Keenan, said, “John’s expertise and knowledge will be very helpful as we continue to attract and retain top quality leadership to successfully direct our organization into the future. John Scatterday, senior vice president, Northern California Employee Benefits Practice, added, “John is a well recognized industry expert with a tremendous domain in public agency from his Delta tenure. He will bring expertise to our customers and prospects as well as management development expertise to Keenan.”
Crooms comes to Keenan with more than 30 years of employee benefits expertise that includes extensive industry knowledge, relationships, and an understanding of the California benefits marketplace, with particular emphasis on the public sector.
Most recently he served as vice president of Sales at Delta Dental from 1998 through June 2005. In this capacity, he was responsible for all aspects of Delta’s sales management, distribution, and account management activities. From 1973 through December 1997, Crooms held various leadership roles with the Prudential Insurance Company, including vice president of Sales, located in San Francisco.
