The Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Society is hosting a Contractual Risk Transfer workshop in Pasadena, Calif., on April 20, 2006.
The workshop will feature Donald S. Malecki, a principal at Malecki, Deimling, Nielander & Associates LLC based in Erlanger, Ky., and will cover:
*Contractual risk transfer”as a non-insurance and an insurance technique.
*Why statutory limitations apply to contractual risk transfer, and why there are exceptions.
*Variouscategories of indemnity agreements, and understand why some may be void and unenforceable.
*Potential defenses to indemnity.
*The mechanics of third-party-over actions.
*Potential problems when working on specifications calling for contractual liability insurance.
*How to avoid potential problems when arranging both contractual liability and additional insured status.
*How to assess the coverage grant of CGL, policies in providing contractual liability coverage, and identify pitfalls associated with this coverage.
*The scope of protection, and the difference between the rights of an indemnitee under a CGL policy versus an indemnitee who also is a additional insured.
The workshop has been approved for four continuing education credits in California and adjuster credits in all states. Cost for CPCU Society members is $89, nonmember cost is $99.
