California’s State Compensation Insurance Fund has appointed Don Smith vice president and member of the executive committee.
Smith, 59, of Valley Springs, Calif., is a 25-year veteran of State Fund. He began his career as a claims adjuster for the organization’s Sacramento District Office in 1981. He later joined the district’s Safety Department where he implemented highly effective programs for policyholders. In 1986 he added supervisory experience to his résumé when he was named Sacramento district office assistant claims manager. In 1989 Smith transferred his skills to State Fund’s San Francisco headquarters where he served as claims assessment coordinator for claims rehabilitation and followed this with an assignment as San Jose district office claims manager.
