The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation is hosting its 9th Annual Volunteer Week from Oct. 14 – 21, 2006, in communities across California.
Volunteer Week 2006, sponsored by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, provides opportunities for members of the California insurance industry to get involved in their local communities. The Foundation matches teams of insurance employees with local nonprofit agencies to do service projects that support a variety of critical causes. Marketing opportunities also are available through sponsorships.
Last year’s program proved to be the largest hosted by the Foundation. More than 2,600 volunteers donated more than 10,000 service hours and completed 200-plus projects in a week. Since 2001, Volunteer Week has generated more than 60,000 hours of service by members of the insurance industry throughout California.
“Everyday we strive to serve our companies and clients” said Dennis Doyle, senior vice president with American Reinsurance and chairman of the board for the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation. “Being involved with our industry’s Foundation and programs such as Volunteer Week also allows us to serve the society in which we live and create legacies that extend beyond our careers.”
“Enterprise is proud to lend its support as a major sponsor of Volunteer Week for the second year in a row. We applaud the many companies and volunteers that are involved in this amazing week-long program,” said Susan M. Irwin, vice president/general manager, Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Some nonprofit beneficiaries of 2005 Volunteer Week included Boys and Girls Clubs, California Regional Food Banks, Earth Resource Foundation, Junior Achievement, Read Fresno, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and a host of additional organizations.
The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation seeks to help communities and enrich lives by combining the collective strengths of the industry to provide grants, volunteer service and leadership. The Foundation strives to serve as the charity of choice and philanthropic voice of the insurance industry.
