When I was a newly hired surety underwriter back in 1978, Bob submitted a bond account for our consideration. Despite my inexperience, he was patient and understanding and supportive as I muddled through. He was a gentleman through and through. Higher praise I can\’t offer. Even though we haven\’t had contact for many years now, I am saddened by his passing and offer my deepest condolences to his family.

Bob was a terrific individual and a true friend â€â€Ŕ the kind of person who could tell you what you were doing wrong and leave you feeling good. I haven’t seen Bob for almost 20 years but still think of him regularly â€â€Ŕ he was always one of my favorites.

Each November I spend time being intentional about remembering my dad, his history, the many people’s lives that he touched, his service during WWII and how Doris and her kids and grandkids helped him to find a new kind of peace during his last 15+ years with us. He was a great mentor and teacher as Sam Alexander hinted at in his note posted above. By the way, I know that dad had the greatest respect and appreciation for you too Sam, we should reconnect and tell stories. Dad, Jimmy, Tige, Bob Basler, Foster Brown, Chase Wickersham, Bud Scully, Reid Allen, Terry Chapman, Jerry Retke, Kay Harvey, Doris Ketcham, Lillian Rothlin, Carol & Helen – a handful of names of some of the people who surrounded my father and who I know he loved and respected and appreciated. Thanks to each of you and the countless others who touched dad’s heart.
