Gina Simons has been appointed operations manager of the California State Fund’s marketing department. Simons began her workers’ compensation insurance career in 1988 as a marketing consultant in the State Fund’s underwriting/marketing department. In that capacity Simons produced a wide range of marketing materials and products, worked with media outlets across the state, and guided the State Fund’s first market research project.
During that time, marketing developed into a separate department, and Simons became its advertising and promotions supervisor in 1995. She soon earned a reputation for her leadership, conference-organizing, and communication skills. Simons also served on several corporate committees and helped the marketing department win a number of awards from the American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds (AASCIF).
In addition to helping the department earn those national awards, Simons won numerous State Fund awards for her own accomplishments. Formal recognition included Achievement Awards in 1992 and 1994, an Award for Corporate Excellence in 1995, and a President’s Award for Corporate Excellence (PACE) Supervisory Award – the State Fund’s highest accolade – in 2001.
Simons holds a bachelor’s degree in communications/public relations from California State University, Chico.
