June 27, 2008

Art McDevitt, vice president of the Energy Division of U.S. Risk Insurance Group Inc., a managing general agency and surplus lines wholesaler, was named Insurance Industry Person of the Year by the Association of Wyoming Agents. McDevitt received the award at the association’s annual convention in Jackson Hole, Wyo., on June 13. He was cited for his vast contribution to the association, including teaching continuing education classes on ethics for past two years and his overall service to insurance agents in Wyoming.

“Each year the Association of Wyoming Insurance Agents recognizes someone who has made a difference along the way, and this year we are pleased to recognize Art McDevitt,” said Susan D. Worthington, executive vice president of the Association of Wyoming Agents. “Our Industry Person of the Year for 2008 has gone above and beyond, providing ethics training for our agents and being available as a resource for our agents.”

McDevitt has worked for U.S. Risk for the past five years, with nearly 40 total years experience in the insurance industry. Previously, McDevitt was active with the Casualty & Property Insurance Underwriters (CPCU) Society, serving on the National CPCU Ethics Committee, including one year as chairman, and on the national Board of Directors.

The Insurance Industry Person of the Year award is voted on by the Association of Wyoming Agents Board of Directors.
