James E. Rutrough, vice chairman and chief administrative officer of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, based in Bloomington, Ill., has been named the chairman of Junior Achievement USA headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Rutrough has been on Junior Achievement’s U.S. board since September 2003. As chairman, he will be responsible for providing strategic direction to Junior Achievement USA. In addition, he will promote support of Junior Achievement within the State Farm network, and will leverage State Farm expertise to support Junior Achievement initiatives.
Rutrough joined State Farm as a trainee in the Charlottesville, Va., office. After a series of promotions, he was named assistant division manager in the Costa Mesa, Calif., office in 1981. He was promoted to positions of increasing responsibility and was named executive vice president and chief administrative officer in 1998 and senior executive vice president in 2001. He assumed his current position in 2004.
