With a bit of experience both as a company employee and claimant of Farmers, I have to say the biggest impediment to better insurance provision in WA is a better Claims department with more reliance on facts and less play book script following. I was treatened with an implication of insurance fraud and my claim was line item vetoed and substitutions of allowable replacement with no basis in fact were put in place. Farmers Policy holders(read stockholders) need to take the company back from a misdirected management company.

Mike is an idiot. There are five million cars registered in Washington, and four million are insured. Although the law requires that autos be insured, there is no mechanism to verify that cars are insured. So Washingtonians pay the tenth highest cost for uninsured motorist in the country. About $75 per year, per car.
Lets see, about $300,000,000 expense per year for Washingtonians because Mike and his predecessors don’t have the will to enforce current traffic law. When asked years ago about the problem, then Insurance Kommissar Deborah Senn snapped ‘Its my job to make the law. It’s not my job to enforce the law.’
Gee, what a consumer advocate. What the socialists here tell me off the record is that enforcement would be disproportionately hard on the poor.
And thats what passes for lawmaking in the broke State of Washington.

Farmer’s Insurance is currently doing the same thing to me, on behalf of their client, who admits fault in totalling my car. This is not justice. Somebody help me please, as I now don’t have a car.
