Walnut Creek, Calif.-based Heffernan Insurance Brokers announced that it raised over $47,000 for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk.
This is the second year Heffernan’s “Ta-Ta Sisterhood” team participated in the walk, which included nine returning participants from last year’s team. “Ta-Ta Sisterhood” consisted of 23 women who walked 26.2 miles last Saturday, followed by 13.1 miles Sunday, with each person required to raise a minimum of $1,800.
According to the Avon Foundation, more than 2,800 walkers raised more than $6 million toward finding a cure for breast cancer, and the Heffernan team ranked sixth among the top fundraising teams for San Francisco in 2009.
