Kansas City, Mo.-based Ascension Insurance Inc. has announced the acquisition of the Las Vegas-based Kapp Insurance Agency Inc., doing business as Portal of Nevada. Portal of Nevada is a full service employee benefits consulting firm with clients throughout Nevada and California. Portal of Nevada will join Portal Insurance Agency Inc., which is owned by Ascension and headquartered in Walnut Creek, Calif., to expand its capabilities and consultative expertise in the area of large employee benefits case design and in the specialized area of employee benefits solutions for non-profit organizations.
In addition, Ascension has appointed Nicole Jones-Gyllstrom as lead strategist/project manager for Portal of Nevada working alongside President Brian Kapp of Portal of Nevada and Charles Yeomans, the CEO of Portal Insurance Agency of Walnut Creek. She will serve as lead strategist for Portal’s programs and communications development, and will be responsible for major client relationships and overall program design and coordination. Jones-Gyllstrom joins Portal from Mercer of Las Vegas, where she was the principal/division president in charge of operations.
Ascension is a nationwide full-service insurance and employee benefits agency providing brokerage and risk management services specifically to middle-market companies. Together with its private equity partners, Parthenon Capital and Century Capital Management, Ascension expects to grow to $200 million in revenue over the next four years.
