Animal lovers won’t get relief navigating insurance policies for their pets after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill requiring greater disclosure.
The Republican governor vetoed legislation that would required insurance companies to provide more information about the level of veterinary care covered by their plans.
The bill, AB2411, was modeled after national health care reform signed into law by President Barack Obama. It would have required insurers to disclose on their websites any policies that limit coverage.
In his veto message, Schwarzenegger said existing law allows the state Department of Insurance to regulate pet insurance policies if there is a need.
