Woodland Hills, Calif.-based Poms & Associates Insurance Brokers Inc., an insurance brokerage firm focusing on commercial insurance, employee benefits, corporate wellness, personal lines, and risk management and risk control, has announced the addition of Ken Slon as senior risk manager, and Melinda Barton as senior account manager.
Slon joins the firm’s Risk Services division ,bringing skills in fields such as municipal government, specialized transportation, health care, financial services, nonprofits, and the insurance industry. Prior to joining Poms, he was the risk manager for the city of Monterey Park, Calif., administering all aspects of risk management for this full service self-insured city. He was also active in a joint powers authority comprised of 23 Southern California cities and won several awards for his risk management programs.
Barton will focus on commercial insurance and brings experience working with manufacturers, distributors, retail and property owners. She was previously with Stone, Harris & Stone, handling a commercial book of business as account manager/executive and acting as vice president of operations. She worked closely with the principal of the agency assisting in growing the book of business from $500,000 to $15 million in premium.
