Atlanta-based Beecher Carlson, an industry specialized insurance brokerage and risk management consulting firm, has acquired Santa Ana, Calif.-based DW Harper Group. The deal further expands Beecher Carlson’s National Healthcare Practice and current medical malpractice expertise.
DW Harper Group was founded in 2006 as an independent insurance brokerage representing multiple hospitals and healthcare facilities in the United States. The group was 100 percent owned by founder David Harper, who will remain with Beecher Carlson.
Under Harper’s guidance, the group grew to $20 million dollars a year in premium. DW Harper Group was a full-service retail brokerage firm focused primary on medical malpractice. Prior to starting DW Harper Group, Harper managed the healthcare segment of a Southern California brokerage, building the client-base from the ground up.
Beecher Carlson’s National Healthcare team is led by Frank McKenna. McKenna serves as executive managing director and has more than 25 years of experience in the health care industry. Under his leadership, Beecher Carlson’s National Healthcare Practice has become recognized for its solutions and technologies specific to the healthcare industry. Beecher Carlson serves industry clients ranging from large hospital chains, physician groups, surgical centers, managed care organizations and academic medical centers.
