Heffernan Insurance Brokers has hired Karen Albanese office as senior vice president in its Orange County, Calif. office, focusing on benefits strategy and administration.
Albanese will work out of Walnut Creek, Calif.-based Heffernan’s Los Angeles branch, expanding Heffernan’s reach in Southern California.
Albanese brings nearly 20 years of insurance experience to Heffernan, specializing in employee benefit risk management and population health improvement solutions. Her career began at a large health insurance company, where she developed products and networks. For the last 15 years, Albanese has worked at two large insurance brokerages managing benefit programs for employers of all sizes.
Employee-owned, Heffernan has California offices in San Francisco, Petaluma, Palo Alto, Los Angeles and Orange County, and offices in Portland, Ore.; St. Louis, Mo. and New York, NY.
Insurance Brokers was named the Top Mid-Sized Broker in the United States to Work for in 2009 by Business Insurance Magazine. The firm has been among the Top Greater Bay Area Philanthropists since 2003 by donating more than $2.5 million to local charities.
