Toyo Tire Recalls Nearly 69,000 Tires

January 31, 2012

Cypress-based Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. is recalling nearly 69,000 tires because of a possible kink near the rim area that could cause a crack and lead to tire failure.

A statement on the company’s website says the recall involves the Toyo Extensa A/S tires that were manufactured at the Toyo Tires plant in Georgia and have a “Made in U.S.A.” mark on the sidewall. The faulty tires can be identified by the last four digits of the tire’s identification number, ranging from 3809 to 4410.

If the tire has the “Made in Japan” or “Made in China” mark on the sidewall, they are not being recalled. The company will replace the recalled tires at no charge if returned on or before May 31.

Because of tire wear, all four of my tires will need to be replaced because one tire is effected. How is this fair? Toyo should replace all four tires.
