“The Los Angeles Times reported the voter pamphlet suggests illegal price fixing by stating Proposition 33 would allow insurance companies to set prices.” Uh. . . don’t most businesses set the price for their product? What am I missing here? Seems that the L.A. Times is implying that, in setting prices, insurance companies will automatically gouge people? Does The Times think people don’t have a choice of insurance companies? I’m not even sure what’s the point of putting that in a voter guide. Politics!!?!?!
Exactly Wayne, I’ve seen rate increase filings on the CDI website where the comissioner has come back with a rate decrease. It’s scary for insurance companies to do a rate filing in California, more so if it’s a company the dept hates like Mercury.

Perhaps you should look into how rates are set.
