Isn’t Oakland the home of the OWS violence against the City? I think they have had more trouble than any other city. They have a bunch of anarchists out there.

While I don’t disagree with your point I disagree with the usuage of “anarchists” as a negative term. Sorry way off subject just have been reading some anarchists material recently and the sane people that are serious about it have some good if not interesting points.

I’m absolutely with you LiveFree. Anarchy simply means the absence of government (would that it were so). These are criminals, pure and simple. Anarchists take responsibility for themselves. My bet is the criminals involved are having their bills paid via a range of government programs that the victim – as well as you and I – had to pay for via tax. One is hard pressed to find a societal problem that government hasn’t either created or exacerbated.

My definition of anarchists may differ some from yours. People that don’t respect authority in any way and seek to destroy property or actually foment violence against law abiding citizens, businesses, police, fire departments are anarchists who are basically insane and should be committed. There are a bunch of these types in Oakland as has been reported on the national news.

Hating a team because of out of control fans have nothing to do with the injries to these poor people. This happens at almost all sporting events when booze is consumed. When people stop living their lives thru a sport is when this will stop. Until then it just gives the many unhappy people a stage to perform their violence. Just my Opinion!

Just my opinion – Raiders are dirty players and their fans follow in their footsteps.

Unfortunate circumstances, but it was not done at the instigation of either team.

I disagree somewhat. Raiders fans and the organization promote the mystique of the bad boys. It is their “claim to fame”. So until the Oakland Raiders clean up their own image, then you can expect a higher degree of this type of problem with Oakland fans, moreso than any other NFL team.

I agree with you Y. One of the most publicized cases of dirty play was by Oakland when Darell Stingley of the Patriots was paralyzed for life by a vicious dirty hit when he was running a passing route. They just have that reputation and it spills over to their fans. I have seen some of their fans on TV and they are all painted up in their black and silver and obvioulsy hopped up on booze or drugs or both and they are wild eyed.

Jack Tatum hit Darryl when he was coming across the middle. It was not a dirty hit, but it was certainly vicious – especially for an exhibition game.

They sued the wrong team. Should have sued the Radiers organization, not the ‘9ers.

The Oakland Raiders were once the blue collar heroes of professional sports. Then they moved to LA and became the heroes of the hood. Meantime, Oakland lost its manufacturing base and has been in an economic slump for years. The LA gangster ethic came back north with the team Now, gangs and drugs are rampant inOakland, not crazed anarchists. Anarchists wouldn’t last 5 minutes in Fruitvale or in either the Raiders or 9ers parking lots. For one thing, the anarchists would likely wear the wrong bandana over their nose.

The worst elements of the OWSAnachists are in Oakland and they have tried numerous times to burn, pillage the community there. Add the street gangs, illegal criminals to the mix and it is not a pretty picture. The whole Bay area is in an uproar and it is no wonder that law abiding citizens have been fleeing the area for some time.

        an·ar·chist   /ˈænərkɪst/ Show Spelled[an-er-kist] Show IPA
        noun
        1. a person who advocates or believes in anarchy or anarchism.
        2. a person who seeks to overturn by violence all constituted forms and institutions of society and government, with no purpose of establishing any other system of order in the place of that destroyed.
        3. a person who promotes disorder or excites revolt against any established rule, law, or custom.

OWS neither uses violence nor promotes disorder. They are exercising their right, as Americans, to protest. You may not like what they are protesting, but calling them anarchists is not close by a long stretch.
