Guitars With Playboy Bunny Logo Subject Of Lawsuit

September 4, 2012

Photos of Playboy playmates have gone from the cover of the magazine to the center of a lawsuit between two Oregon guitar makers.

Houston guitar designer Stephen Marchione (MARK-ee-ohn-ee) claims he was never paid the royalties owed him by Talent, Ore., guitar builder Steve Clayton for designing three guitars using the Playboy bunny logo.

Marchione’s lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Medford, seeks $850,000.

Clayton told The Oregonian he never used Marchione’s designs, and Marchione never provided prototypes called for in their contract.

Clayton’s website shows several designs for Playboy guitars, including a solid-body electric with a collage of Playboy magazine covers and an acoustic model with mother of pearl Playboy bunny inlays.

The suit says Clayton was licensed to use Playboy trademarks. Playboy Enterprises is not a defendant.
