A judge has dismissed a lawsuit by the charity co-founded by “Three Cups of Tea” author Greg Mortenson against an insurance company.
U.S. District Judge Dana Christensen dismissed the lawsuit Thursday, more than a month after the Central Asia Institute and Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Co. reached a settlement.
The charity sued over the costs associated with defending a Montana investigation into Mortenson’s management of the Central Asia Institute and a civil lawsuit against Mortenson and CAI.
The insurance company agreed to pay $1.2 million in a settlement reached in November.
The case’s dismissal marks an end to more than two years of legal troubles for Mortenson after “60 Minutes” and author Jon Krakauer published reports alleging Mortenson fabricated parts of his best-selling book and mismanaged the charity.
