OK I get it. Nobody lives in most of Wyoming, and nobody drives Priuses. But what is the rationale behind driving that fast other than to get the heck out of where you are, and to where you wanted to be in the first place?
Curious, what other rationale do you want? If you have miles upon miles of straight, flat roads, with little traffic, is driving 80 really less safe than driving 75? Or even 65 for that matter?
Agreed.
Not much to see, not much to hit or get hit by. The only problem when you are driving that fast is that your fatigue increases and attentiveness can decrease when you are driving that fast and you don’t vary speeds to break up the monotony.

3 minutes at 80 mph takes you the same distance as 4 minutes at 60. So a 25% reduction in travel time is the “rationale”.

Comming through!! Outta my way… Oh, wait, I’m on a residential street.
