Republican Jim Wheeler, chair of the Assembly transportation committee, said. “Taxi companies have a ton of regulations so maybe we need to lower some of those while adding a few to Uber – I’m open to discussing anything.”
If regulations are passed to allow the companies to operate in the state, and the companies comply, what’s the problem?
It appears that legislators are interested in finding a way for both taxis and ride-sharing companies to coexist. Shouldn’t that be a good thing?
Uber Will be here… it’s a great service… I’ve taking taki’s in las Vegas for 10 years Disgusting Dirty terrible And most of all Expensive.people Don’t like change And that said Uber Will Not be stopped it’s NYC Ca And other Countries.. They have very Big pockets And Will Win Watch And See
TNC companies are not regulated for anything. Their insurance is a mess, and when a driver hits a car while driving for TNC companies their private insurance will not cover this. TNC companies are not regulated, they can’t accommodate people with disabilities or those to use wheelchairs at all. Total risk not only the passenger riding inside them but those other drivers that are on the road. Many of them are been sued in other states because of their lack of accessibility. As a native Nevada girl, a woman who uses a wheelchair and a businesswoman I hope that any company who excepts a fair payment should be regulated by the same rules the the taxi industry is. And also Nevada has great legislators and I don’t believe that any pushed around by TNC companies.
Uber is a multibillion dollar un-regulated TAXICAB operation.
Note how Uber management always changes their own terminology
(words) in use –
First, it was Uber Cab.
Then, it was ride-“sharing”.
Then, it was TNC as in “transportation-network company”.
Now, it’s ride-“hailing”.
Perhaps enough of this words-play ?
Uber is a TAXICAB operation that is using an app.
That’s all it is.
And all taxicab laws and regulations should apply to it.
Consider this, Citibank has an app.
Do you see Citibank claiming not to be a bank anymore ?
Ignoring banking regulations ? Violating banking laws ?
Of course, not. That would be absurd.
Well, same applies to Uber and its app.
Well said… !!

Well funded, politically connected start up vs. the mob. Should be an interesting battle to follow.
