Nasburg & Company Insurance and Huggins Insurance, both based in Coos Bay, Ore., have merged to become Nasburg Huggins Insurance, and at the same time have entered into an affiliation with Leavitt Group.
The announcement comes from the agencies’ principals, Ed Ellingsen of Nasburg & Company Insurance, and Bob Huggins of Huggins Insurance. Ellingsen will be the managing co-owner of the merged agencies. Ellingsen began his insurance career in Portland with Equitable Life Insurance, and became owner of Nasburg & Company in 1993.
Huggins joined Huggins Insurance in 1977 after seven years in banking and at Safeco Insurance in Portland. In 1989, he purchased the agency, which was founded by his grandfather.
Each agency will continue to operate independently until May 4, when the Huggins office will move to the Nasburg building at 375 South 4th St. in Coos Bay.
Leavitt Group is an organization of independent insurance agencies with 115 offices across the U.S.
