Amy L. Parks has been appointed acting insurance commissioner of Nevada.
Parks’ appointment follows the resignation of former Nevada Insurance Commissioner Scott J. Kipper.
Kipper’s reason for leaving office has not been explained. He announced his resignation effective July 2.

Kipper was reappointed commissioner in October 2011 after serving as Nevada’s commissioner from 2008 to 2010.
Parks has 11 years of experience with the state’s insurance division and this is her second time serving as acting commissioner. She has served as chief insurance counsel and hearing officer for the Nevada Division of Insurance since the spring of 2009, and insurance counsel and hearing officer for the division since August 2004.
The division is part of the Nevada Department of Business and Industry. It regulates Nevada’s $11.9 billion insurance industry.
