I strongly disagree that without the ACA will be “….death and despair”….really? The $20 million that now have health care are on government assistance…..get a job people….its not going to be a free ride anymore, you are not entitled. Build the wall and keep illegals out. If we continue with the ACA, more and more doctors will leave. We are already seeing doctors that DO NOT take patients that have ACA. Insurance premiums are raising at an exorbitant unaffordable rate now. the government give and gives, and they take and take out of my hard working pay check for those who cheat the system and keep living with assistance….why don’t we start drug testing everyone on government assistance, limit them to one year of assistance like we do unemployment? Trump will make America Great again….!!

Commissioner Jones need to focus on running his department and stop the politics, the voters have spoken. He talks about insurer profits, however don’t be fooled, the ACA is big business for government and it’s all about their own pocketbooks. For example, when the taxpayers paid over 1 billion for failed website and exchanges, that was money that spent with vendors who supported the campaigns of those who supported the ACA. Hence, the ACA is huge “profits” for political campaigns and politicians, but they would never call it profits. It’s all deception, they will do all they can do to keep the gravy train going and this is exactly what Commissioner Jones is doing. Sadly, California has enough voters who are fools to feed into their corruption.

Davey, Davey, Davey! What you fail to mention are those of us who are now paying 3 times more for plans with 2 to 3 times the deductible because of the UFA(Unaffordable Care Act). BTW, since the Bronze HDHP HSA Compatible deductibles are now $4800 for an individual, the IRS needs to update their contribution limits. Of course as high as the premiums are for this cra**y coverage, most hard working Americans can’t fund their HSA. Repeal and Replace and allow everyone to get the plan and doctors they want like we used to. For as bad at it was, it was 3 times better! For that matter, now that the houses that were on fire are slowing being extinguished, your should take a 50% or more pay cut like the agents who had to explain why this was a bad law to begin with.

California Insurance Agent issues a comment on the negative impact of having the California Commissioner being a partisan political position. What is the real net cost of continued “statements” by Davy Jones on the availability and cost of insurance on California residents? Why do most western states (including AZ, ID, CO, NV, OR, UT) except WA have non-elected insurance commissioners?
Why does California continue to encourage more government intervention (litigation) which increases the real costs for the masses they are “protecting” with statements? Enough is enough!

The insurance commissioner is a state level position in all 50 states. The duties of the position vary from state to state, but their general role is as a consumer protection advocate and insurance regulator. The position is elected in 11 states and appointed in 39.

The sales tactic of keeping your kids on your policy until they are age 26 doesn’t fly. At that age, premiums are low because you’re usually in excellent health. My policy was one of the individual plans with Blue Cross that was cancelled for this debacle. Everyone was herded into the “Bronze” plan. Starting 01/01/2017, my deductible and premium are increasing. My premium alone will now be higher than the combined premium that my husband and I were paying previously.

When I read the law in January 2010, I predicted that since it guaranteed the carriers a 3% profit through 2016 whether they made or lost money, that everyone would buy more Wellpoint (now Anthem stock)since they were poised to participate in almost every state or Federal exchange. Stupid me I didn’t. The value of the stock on December 31,2010 was $56.86/share. It hit its all time high on June 25, 2015 at $170.34/share. Now with bailout no longer guaranteed in 2017, its only worth $125.08 as of September 26, 2016. Still more than Double my money! Thank you US Government for taking over 17% of the US economy and guaranteeing it not to lose for 3 years.

I’m perplexed. Isn’t Calibfornia planning on seceding from the US?
If so, why should the Guv care about what the remaining states that will remain united will do with healthcare?

As the old song says, “let’s have another cup of coffee, let’s have another piece of pie.” Just keep running up the deficit and debt for the next generation(s); everything is fine just keep printing money.

Can Trump blame Obama for 4 or 8 years for all that is wrong with the US economy? It was OK for politicians like Obama to blame Bush for 8 years.

No, Trump cannot blame Obama as it was a GOP obstructionist Congress that refused to do its job. However, you can blame Obama for rescuing the economy that Bush tanked big time.

You also cannot assign blame for any terrorist attacks, heavenforbid, for anything that did not happen on Obama’s watch.

Think Trump is keeping people safe in NYC by living in a big, fat, gaudy tower target in the middle of Manhattan?
