Kneel for prayer, stand for the National Anthem. The court of public opinion has spoken and the NFL is paying a steep price of declining viewership, poor sales of season tickets and stands that are missing a lot of fans. The estimate is so far at $200 million in lost revenue and will easily double by season end. Prima Donna players should not be protesting at the work place. Do it in a public park, not on the sidelines. I haven’t missed seeing one game since this started and Kaepernick should never grace the field in the NFL again. He is not that good anyway and Canada is open to him if he likes.

Great, as soon as you find out you are dead wrong, as usual, you want to cite some liberal pos media story as somehow vindicating your lame and untenable position.
Make no doubt about it, I knew exactly where you would fall on this issue and make no doubt about it, you’re so wrong that it stinks.
The players taking a knee are cowards and far too stupid to understand that that flag and ‘the system’ is what has allowed them to prosper millions of times beyond anything else most of them could ever hope to accomplish in their life times.

FFA, the good news is that your Bears have finally started winning. It seems they have discovered a defense that can score. Didn’t watch the game, but did see some highlights on NFL Channel.

College football is all that interests me anymore. Unlike the tedious NFL, you never know what will happen when two good college teams meet up.

Its all perception Cap. They invaded my happy place with politics. Now, they don’t get much of my time any more. I know I am not the only one. According to an article I read, networks don’t show the Anthem any more and they don’t talk about it during the games. They are getting hurt by a lack of viewers. ESPN reporting the biggest hit.

Last full game I watched, I turned the TV off for the Anthem and my Gr Son played it on the key board for me. That way, I didn’t have to watch the dis respect them cry baby athletes disrespect our flag and our Military and I got to show my respect.
Could Monday Night Football be a thing of the past?

I just find it curious, knowing the players didn’t even take the field until after the anthem up until 2008, that this is somehow about disrespecting the flag. Kaepernick himself visited with veterans to determine what action would be best if he wasn’t going to stand during the anthem. That veteran group suggested the knee.

Yes, viewership has fallen but it’s still strong. And, Lambeau was a packed house yesterday even without #12. The NBA’s numbers have fallen dramatically over the years and they aren’t canceling any games. Baseball went through the whole steroid thing and they bounced back. So, no, MNF will not be a thing of the past. I guess those who choose not to watch have freed up a good amount of time to be with family, exercise, make differences in the community, go golfing, or pick up some new hobbies!

Its all how you were brought up. Big No No for my generation. No Way. No How. When ever, where ever the National Anthem was on, you stopped what you were doing and stood at attention.

That’s how I am raising my kids. That’s how I want my kids to raise theirs.

Kapernick is a lowsey QB. He – in my opinion was a fool to opt out of his big contract. Walk away from guaranteed money like he did. Just a fool. Now, no one will give him a job in the NFL. Probably not Canada either. Maybe he is better then some of the third stringers out there. If Im the owner – Why take a chance on someone your paying league minn to carry a clip board.

I was raised similarly. I always stand with hand over heart. But, I also understand what the protest is about and respect it. Like the veterans Kaepernick talked to, we understand it isn’t about disrespecting the flag or our armed forces brothers and sisters. You’re certainly right, Colin isn’t nearly as good as he was several years ago. At one time, he was poised to take the league by storm, but that never came to fruition.

I do understand what the protest is about. Take their civil action to the heart of the cause – the Police Stations. They are getting a significant amount of push back on it. They didn’t have to ruin a good thing to get their point across. After seeing the pics of the empty stadiums during game time, seems they are just shooting themselves in the foot. Attendance down. Networks in panic mode. All going to equal lower paychecks and less likely that the public would allow for public funding of stadium improvements.

Kap was a one season wonder boy just like RG3. Harbaugh changed the system to fit his strengths. The league adjusted and just like all the other run & shoot QBs at the pro level, washed out. I wonder if that move (benching Alex Smith and sending him out of town) was a factor in him being fired. Alex Smith doing a fine job while Kap cant even carry a clip board.

Miami has taken a pass on him. Pack took a pass. No word out of AZ yet if they are even looking for another QB. Bradford needs the boot out of Minn. Doubt they would look at him too.

Collusion or is he just that bad? Seems the GM’s around the league already know the answer to that question.

Between CTE, disrespect for the flag, the increasing perception that most of the players are semiliterate thugs who are way way overpaid & their own inability to follow the NFL bylaws, the NFL is on its way to a deep dark pit. I’d love to see most of the players crawling over each other for jobs on the docks.

Let me paint the difference for you. Refusing commerce due to someone’s sexual preference is discriminatory. That furthers discrimination. Kind of like African Americans at diners, in buses, or sipping water from a drinking fountain. Kneeling in protest is because of the discrimination African Americans face at the feet of some, not all, but some police officers who have abused their power. Got the difference now?

77.3% according to that study. OK – let’s ask the bigger question – why is that? What is it about socioeconomic conditions that may cause a spike like that? Answer that, solve for it, and then the number decreases. “Black millionaires being oppressed…” is a racist comment, btw. It doesn’t take a liberal to understand not everyone is born of the lucky sperm club. And, by design, the government has placed minorities in oppressed areas for decades. Socioeconomic conditions create inequality, which, by the way, impacts some white people, too. I’m guessing you might call them trailer trash. Though, these conditions proportionately affect minorities to a much greater extent.

Didn’t say white trash, please read carefully. I am using a term that is specific to a socioeconomic place, in this case a trailer park, not necessarily a color. Though, white people in that place do suffer similar unequal conditions as do those in other places such as government housing and low income inner-city neighborhoods. Oh, and thanks for finally dropping the “N” word. Many of us out here have known you’ve been wanting to for a long time.

The N word has no place on this board, nor does anyone who uses it. If that makes me a bedwetter, fine. I respect everyone’s right to free speech whether I agree with it or not, however an insurance forum is no place for that language. Remember: freedom of speech is not the same as freedom from consequences. Case in point: the NFL Protests. I don’t agree with them one bit, however I support the players’ right to protest. THe consequence in this case is the NFL losing ratings and people’s interest (mine included).

apologies, the word was “trailer trash”, not “white trash.” Neither of them are nice, but still don’t compare to the N word.

And by the way Cap Planet, I’m black.

I’d bet your captain of planet URANUS aren’t you. Come on, you can tell us.

Ironic using Patriots and kneeling in the same sentence. Hardly.

Leftists like you have already lost this argument just like the NFL players who are still kneeling and sitting. The worst example so far is standing for God Save the Queen in England and kneeling for our NATIONAL ANTHEM.

Independent, Agent. Again, I voted for several Republicans in the last election. But, like our president, you keep peddling false narratives trying to generate truth from lies.

THIS veteran is offended deeply by Kaepernick and his minions, most of whom couldn’t tell you why they take a knee, they just know that it puts the spotlight on them. I am very happy to say that the vast majority of Americans feel the way that I do about this. It would truly be disheartening if that same vast majority didn’t care……but they do.
You can say they aren’t being disrespectful and I’ll say that you’re out of your mind and can’t spin this hard enough to make it anything that it isn’t – disrespectful. And if a few veterans say it’s ok, that doesn’t make it ok, that only makes it ok with them, not the vast (see: super) majority.

Black millionaires today, bankrupt tomorrow. Sadly, these players earn money early, squander it, and it doesn’t last. Not to mention most are not equipped for anything but football. I may have a narrow view here, but when I watch football I just want to see 60 minutes of play. It’s strictly entertainment and I’m not entertained if I have to view a political statement in the process. Doesn’t mean I don’t understand the cause or support it, I just want THAT information in another format or venue. No different that watching a 2 hr movie. Sometimes I want to watch a documentary, other times I want Dumb & Dumber.

Let me know when they protest the overwhelming number of blacks who are killed by blacks. (Total number of unarmed blacks killed by police in 2016: 17). And you can bet at least a few of those killed were on drugs and/or behaving in a way that would have caused anyone deep concern.

Let me know then they protest the collapse of the black family.

Let me know when they protest liberal opposition to school choice, which now has a mountain of evidence showing that poor black children do better in districts where they aren’t forced to go to the same crappy schools in their bad neighborhoods.

Let me know when Asians explain how racism has held them back, and how America has let them down.

Are there still issues of racism in American? Of course. People will always find a reason not to like someone else. Short people, ugly people, dumb people, religious people, and on and on.

But the real hurdles are elsewhere. (And before you call me a racist, consider my background.)

According to the US Flag Code, “The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.”

So I would assume when the military holds the flag during NFL games, in the unfree and horizontal position, then they are violating the US Flag Code.
