A woman has filed a lawsuit against Bellevue College claiming the school, and by extension Washington state, fostered a hostile work environment by failing to protect her from a former dean.
SeattlePI.com reported the woman’s attorney Julie Kays filed the lawsuit last week alleging former assistant dean Faisal Jaswal sexually abused his assistant starting in 2010.
Kays says the 29-year-old woman has intellectual delays that made it easier for Jaswal to manipulate her.
The lawsuit says Jaswal told the woman that he would fire her if she reported the alleged sexual abuse.
The woman did make a report in 2016 and Bellevue police say the case remains under investigation.
An attorney for Jaswal didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
Bellevue College declined to comment on the lawsuit but said in a statement that Jaswal was removed from his position.
