It must have been a frightening event—-BUT this aircraft could have made it all the way to Hawaii with the remaining three engines. The pilots of such an aircraft are skilled and handled the incident as would any masterful pilot. Mike
The 777 has 2 engines, not 4. But it is indeed rated to fly for up to 5 1/2 hours on a single engine. Though I suspect the aerodynamics of a shredded engine housing are somewhat more challenging than simply a non-working engine. Agree that the pilots did the outstanding job we’ve come to expect from them.
