We are still paying the highest fuel tax rates in the nation to fix our roads
So where is this money going to ?

Maybe CA needs to raise the gas tax to help pay for highway improvements.

The challenge is not lack of money, but poor management.

If you try to contact the franchise tax board for a small question on your taxes, it is a three hour wait. Even the unemployment for those who legitimately need it is not paid for a few months while millions go to prisoners illegally. The last statistic I read is that 20% of unemployment benefits went to the prison population illegally. The problem with big government is the lack of accountability. Government workers cannot be easily terminated for poor performance.

While private enterprise is not perfect, at least there is significant accountability due to competitive and legal pressures to perform.

The gas tax could be increased, but that does not guarantee better roads.
