FAA Updates Altitudes, Changeover Points for Safe Airspace Navigation in Alaska

July 17, 2025

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a final rule amending the instrument flight rules (IFR) altitudes and changeover points for several Federal airways, jet routes, and direct routes in Alaska.

These changes are part of routine updates to ensure safe and efficient use of the navigable airspace under instrument conditions, addressing changes in the National Airspace System.

The amendments involve adjustments to minimum and maximum en route authorized IFR altitudes, which are crucial for maintaining adequate navigation aid coverage and preventing frequency interference.

Specific routes affected include Green Federal Airways G10, G12, and G8, Amber Federal Airway A16, and Red Federal Airway R99, among others, with changes to altitudes and navigation points.

The FAA determined that these amendments are necessary for flight safety and operational efficiency, and they are effective as of August 7, 2025.

These updates are not considered a significant regulatory action and are part of the FAA’s ongoing efforts to keep airspace regulations current and effective.
