N.Y. City Wants U.S. To Pay 9/11 Health Care Costs

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has called on the federal government to pay $150 million a year in medical bills for workers and residents who suffered health effects from the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

After the World Trade Center was destroyed, the federal government created a $1 billion insurance fund to help ground zero workers sickened by the fumes and dust. However, the fund has been criticized for a lack of payments to sick workers and spent much of ist time combating lawsuits.
