Not reading the whole proposed legislation, it sounds like there is a loophole. If a husband gets his insurance through his wife\’s work, but it is also available through his work, he should not be able to continue coverage on her insurance if they divorced.

With all the talk about universal health care, this is a hot topic. But, eventually the taxpayers are the ones that get to pay. Good ol\’ Dems.

I think this would be an excellent idea. But the individual carrying the burden of paying for the ex-spouse\’s continued insurance should be able to have this \”counted\” in his/her favor in the divorce papers. I agree with you, webster, in that the person should have to take out their own health insurance if the employer offers it. However, I would much rather my company paid a portion of an employee\’s ex\’s medical coverage than to add to the problem of folks with no health insurance coverage overwhelming our hospitals that serve the uninsured – which costs us taxpayers!
