Lloyd’s announced the election of five members to its governing council, the body that has ultimate responsibility for directing and controlling the Lloyd’s market. All the appointments are for a term of three years, commencing on February 1, 2004. New appointments are subject to approval by the U.K.’s Financial Services Authority.
The bulletin summarized the election results as follows:
Bronek Masojada, CEO of Hiscox plc, and Christine Dandridge, Executive Director of Atrium Underwriters Ltd, have been elected as Working Members. While Mr. Masojada was re-elected, Ms Dandridge is new to Council, replacing David Robson, who stands down after three years. The vacancies were not contested by any other candidates.
Amlin Corporate Member Ltd, represented by Charles Philipps, and Wellington (Five) Ltd, represented by Julian Avery, were re-elected as ‘C’ external members. The vacancies were not contested by any other candidates.
Sumac Underwriting (UK) Ltd, represented by Quentin Davies, MP, was elected as an Individual External Member. Sumac Underwriting (UK) Ltd was elected with 977,797 votes on a capacity weighted basis. The vacancy was contested by Julian West, who polled 292,914 votes.
