Lloyd’s of London announced that “following his re-election to Council, the Council of Lloyd’s has re-appointed Lord Peter Levene as Chairman of Lloyd’s.”
The bulletin added that the “decision comes after the Legislative Reform Order to amend the Lloyd’s Act 1982 came in to force on Wednesday 19 November. The amendment helps bring Lloyd’s more in to line with current corporate governance.”
Commenting on his reappointment, Lord Levene stated: “I’m very happy to be able to continue in my role as Chairman of Lloyd’s and feel that there is much more that we can achieve in 2009. We have gone through major transformation in the past three years and I look forward to the future.”
He has served as Lloyd’s Chairman through some of the insurance market’s most pivotal moments, including the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma, record profitability, electronic reform and has overseen the market’s international expansion.
