January 11, 2010

Marsh has appointed Julian Macey-Dare as International Leader of its Political Risk and Structured Credit Practice, based in London. He will “drive new business opportunities for Marsh’s Political Risk and Structured Credit Practice globally outside of the US and oversee the strategic development of its existing client base,” said the announcement.Macey-Dare reports to Roy White, Leader of Marsh’s Financial and Professional Practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Macey-Dare is returning to Marsh, where he began his career in 1995, from Willis, where he had executive responsibility for Political Risks and Structured Credit in the Americas, as well as co-heading global new business the past three years. He also worked for Jardine Lloyd Thomson for ten years, becoming Deputy Head of the Political and Credit Risks division.

Evan Freely, Global Practice Leader of Marsh’s Political Risk and Trade Credit Group, noted: “The range of political risk and structured credit issues facing firms internationally have been severely exacerbated by the global recession. As a result, more clients are seeking the protection that insurance cover can offer against discriminatory governmental actions and politically motivated violence that may have an adverse impact on their contracts, investments and financial performance. Julian’s expertise in this market makes him ideally suited to help clients identify the solutions that best suit their businesses.”

Macey-Dare added: “The last 18 months have proved an extremely challenging environment in terms of political risk and structured credit insurance. In 2010, companies will be focussing on working towards economic recovery and building greater risk resilience to external influences. Through its global reach and expertise, Marsh is in a prime position to help companies achieve this and I look forward to developing our political risk and structured credit business internationally.”
