In the dark, they probably thought they were attacking the mother of all luxury yachts.

In the Caribbean we aren’t this stupid. This is sort of like taking on the U.S. Army with 22 caliber rifles. You will die quickly. The way to attack a bunch of U.S. sailors is with grog and girlies.

This nonsense has been going on far too long and I applaud the Navy’s actions. Unfortnately, we continue to play nice with these hoodlums from a 3rd world country. The “pirates” should have been killed and the “mother ship” sunk. There are plenty of photos online showing these idiots with their hands in the air, smiling. Piracy isn’t funny and civilized people paying ransom money only reinforces their behavior by providing a profit motive. What’s called for is a “take no prisoner” policy by the international community. An edict should be put out that pirates will be shot on sight and their boats sunk. The next time these idiots takeover a ship and send a ransom demand, they should be denied and a rapid response team sent to re-take the vessel and kill them. I’ll bet the piracy problem will diminish quickly. You can’t deal with un-civilized people with reason. You speak to them in the only language they understand: force and violence. It’s embarassing that these thugs from a crap country without a government is costing the rest of the world so much money. I’d vote for putting a bounty on pirates.

Damn, what in the hell were these idiots smoking, snorting or injecting.

Attack a fully armed battle cruiser. Now, I actually know what stupid is. It is just so damn funny I cannot type.

Hell, I cannot wipe the grin off of my face. This is just effing hillarious. ROTFLMAO!!!!

Just blow them out of the water. Who would know? Or, at least take their boat and make them swim back.

That’s what they did. They sunk the ship, probably sunk the mother ship too. They can’t just blow them out of the water un-abashed. You never know if someone of importance is abort the ship. Too bad normal merchants are easy pickings too. Else pirating would be less of a problem.

Why can’t they blow their sorry a sses out of the water? They’re armed and engaged in illegal activity and pose a threat to life and property. The idiots think jacking a ship is funny and an easy way to make big money. I’d like to see an international team of mercenaries go into their harbor where they keep the jacked ships and their crews while they await their ransoms, rescue the crews, burn the harbor, destroy the pirate boats, and “eliminate” everyone in close proximity. These people are like wild dogs. They go in packs to intimidate humans. The only way to stop them is to “eliminate” them. Kind of like the rat problem in New York City.

Easy, easy, all of you who are foaming at the mouth.

For the record- the US Navy is run by professional officers and sailors- who did return fire, and did sink the ships, and did capture several pirates. All of whom who will be much more useful alive than dead.

We will gather intel from them on the pirate operations and then have the satisfaction of parading them around for the world to see.

Nugget….what are you smoking? They didn’t sink the “mother ship”. And let’s stop glorifying the situation by referring to it as a “ship”. Checkout the photos of other “mother ships” on the web. There were only 2 idiots onboard.

We have all the intel we need including the location of their “port”. These pieces of human garbage will have a better life in a civilized prison that in their own country. And it better not be an American prison because I don’t want my tax dollars supporting these vermin.

Nobody except ship owners give a rat’s a ss about these fools so “parading them around” isn’t worth the trouble. They come from a 4th world country without a government. They’re renegades. I agree completely with John and Eduardo. You don’t get results by respecting their “rights”. “rights” are earned, they’re not an entitlement. On the open seas, petty thieves and murderer’s don’t have any rights. “Eliminate” them all. Every deviant in the world knows the Americans have a “soft belly” and are reluctant to deliver a knockout punch. They take advantage of that and that’s why so many countries don’t respect us. We have neither the time nor the resources to waste on these mongrels.

This was a very unfair fight. A battle axe or wagon or whatever the Navy calls their boat against poor pirate trying to provide a living to their families. What did they shoot at these disadvantaged pirates. Last time Rosie saw a pirate ship they were still using cannon balls. We should be ashamed!

If anyone of you have happened to have been on a naval base of late you would know a better way to take on the Navy. Just wait until the 9-5 workday is over and the civilian contracted employees who are in fact the core of todays navy go home, then just go in and take what you want. We have “outsourced” our military capabilities to civilian contractors there are no potatoe peelers, or paint scrapers left. Oh, the potatoes get peeled and the paint gets scraped, but it is not a E1 or E2 seaman that is doing it for a monthly pay/housing and medical. It is some for profit corporation doing it for a big contract price.

I disagree. I think they need to be captured so they can be tried instead of disposed of on site. Let the evidence show their guilt. If our police were like that, just shoot on sight for criminals, whos to say that they don’t shoot you, then say “Oh they posed a threat” and get off scott free. no, you would want a trial to show your innocence or guilt.

    Rosie and other maniacs,
The U.S.S. Nicholas was under fire from the stupid pirates. I would of liked to see them torpedo the f***ing skiff. Then fire a 50 caliber multi-barrel motorized machine gun at the mother ship’s control area and radio as a warning to cease hostilities.

Oh yeah if anyone moves on the mother ship after it has been straffed without surrendering have a laser guided ship to ship missle on the ready for the mother ship’s bridge.

Once again, a racist nation attacks helpless Somalian, muslime fisherman struggling to feed their starving families. Where’s the justice? Where’s the love for these poor fisherman?

    No justice, no fish!

I think that the Navy did a fine job. as an ex Naval officer, they exibited the pride and professionalism of the fleet.
That said, there is more that can be done.
Convoy all ships passing through the corrider with at least 1 Allied Naval vessel. As I recall, the French, British and Dutch have all earned a battle E in separate actions.
Next, target every ocean going vessel in the port where the pirates are conducting operations and sink each one at anchor. If not a fighter then a couple of A-10’s.
It might sound harsh, but it’ll stop this nonsense going forward.
