Ironshore Expands Political Risk Division for European Platform in Dublin

January 27, 2011

Ironshore Inc. has named P. Donald Harkey to head the Political Risk unit for Ironshore Europe Limited, based in Dublin. In addition, Ironshore’s Pembroke Syndicate 4000 has entered into an underwriting relationship with Equinox Global Limited to broaden its trade credit insurance market program.

Ironshore Europe’s expanded capabilities will provide political risk insurance lines and other trade-related insurance coverages to European markets.

“Increasingly, a significant percentage of demand for political risk coverages is driven by European-based insureds,” said Daniel Sussman, President of Ironshore Political Risk. “Our presence in Dublin will enable Ironshore Europe to provide capacity to European clients.”

Harkey will serve as senior vice president of Political Risk for Ironshore Europe Limited. He joined Ironshore in March 2010 as senior vice president with Ironshore Political Risk. Harkey has more than 35 years experience in the international finance and trade credit arena. He has served as a director of sales and marketing for several banks with primary responsibilities in developing domestic and international lending platforms involving multinational companies and financial institutions located throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and sub-continent regions.

Ironshore has also forged an underwriting relationship with Equinox Global, a Managing General Agent exclusively dedicated to providing trade credit insurance. The company was established to offer cover with first class security in the credit insurance sector throughout various market cycles.
