ANV Appoints Helson as CEO for Lloyd’s Business

Global specialty insurance group ANV Holdings BV announced the appointment of Janet Helson as CEO of the group’s Lloyd’s Managing Agency, ANV Syndicates Limited, subject to regulatory approval.

Effective October 19th, she will be responsible for the operation of ANV’s Lloyd’s platform, reporting to ANV Group CEO Lynsey Cross, who welcomed Helson to ANV. She also noted Helson’s “extensive experience and knowledge of the London market,” which she indicated made her “the ideal person to take on the role of CEO of ANV’s Lloyd’s platform.”

Helson succeeds Andrew Hall, who was appointed interim Managing Director of ANV’s Lloyd’s Managing Agency in April. She previously served as director of Randall & Quilter’s Underwriting Management Division, where she was engaged to develop new business opportunities. Helson has more than 30 years’ experience in the London insurance market. Her earlier roles included serving as a director at Turnkey Syndicates at Chaucer, Kiln and Crowe.

The bulletin also said: “Gerard van Loon, who took on the role of ANV Syndicates Director of Underwriting in 2014 during the integration of ANV and Jubilee, resumes his previous role of ANV Group Chief Underwriting Officer” He will “oversee underwriting strategy for the Group including ANV Syndicates and ANV’s Managing General Underwriter (MGU) covering US and international business”

Van Loon commented: “We have worked hard over the last two years building our Lloyd’s underwriting platform and strategy and we are now a properly integrated business with an exceptional team. We will continue to build our traditional Lloyd’s of London wholesale underwriting platform and strengthen our international retail presence through our MGU, identifying strategic opportunities for the business as they arise.”
