Livonia, Mich.-based American Community Mutual Insurance Co. has joined with HealthEquity Inc. to offer an integrated program that links high-deductible health plans with consumer-driven tools and financial services.
American Community’s high-deductible health plans, coupled with tax-advantaged Health Savings Accounts, are designed to provide an important and affordable coverage option for many individuals and families. Now, the American Community/HealthEquity alliance provides a number of added benefits to policyholders who select HealthEquity as their HSA administrator.
HSA-related services include a personal advocate, 24-hour telephone support, guidance on how to use an HSA, help with health provider contact, claims analysis, and automatic payment of claims. HealthEquity also offers an additional benefit for qualified subscribers—a credit line to pay health care bills until their HSA balances are sufficient to cover the costs.
Additional consumer resources include a 24-hour nurse hotline, an online tool to help identify lower-cost alternatives to brand-name prescription drugs, and internet access to diagnostic, treatment and disease-management resources.
American Community provides individual and group health insurance products in eight states through an agency force of over 5,000.
